Fun facts

• It has the largest brain-to-body ratio of any primate. Its brain accounts for about 2.5% of its body weight · the highest ratio among all primates.
• They live in large troops. In the wild they form groups of 20 to 75, and when food is abundant they can gather in groups of up to 500.
• Its long tail is not prehensile. It uses it for balance when jumping between branches · never to hang from it, unlike other American monkeys.
• It weighs just under a kilo. An adult weighs 750 to 1,100 grams and measures about 30 cm without counting the tail.
• It communicates with more than 25 different sounds. Squeals, barks and whistles used to warn the group, coordinate movement or mark territory.

It lives in the tropical forests of the Amazon basin and other humid jungles across Central and South America.
